National Anime Month

In appreciation of National Anime Day, celebrated on 15 April 2025, we asked the team at ItThynk Gaming to share their favourite shows — and what anime means to them. The most passionate (and honestly iconic) response?  “ANIME MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME, DAWG.

Anime Day is all about celebrating the unique Japanese animation style that has captured the hearts of millions around the world. According to the National Public Library, the first anime production dates to 1917. Since then, it’s evolved into a vibrant global phenomenon recognised for its art style, expressive characters, and colourful storytelling.

Whether it’s characters with gravity-defying hair or fight scenes that shake the universe, anime carries a heavy dose of nostalgia for many of people — especially for those who grew up watching shows like Dragon Ball Z after school at exactly 5PM. (If you know, you know.)

Top 5 Anime Picks from the ItThynk Gaming team:

  1. Dragon Ball Z
  1. Naruto
  1. Bleach
  1. Attack on Titan
  1. Solo Leveling

Anime Day isn’t just a celebration of TV shows and movies — it’s a celebration of the people who connect with stories that go beyond the norm. Whether you’re into over-the-top action, emotional arcs, or philosophical themes wrapped in neon hair and giant swords, anime has something for you.

So, to the anime lovers, cosplayers and dub vs sub debaters, Happy National Anime Month
