From 13–14 September, all roads led to Summer Place, Hyde Park, where AVIJOZI 2025 lit up the city with two unforgettable days of creativity, technology, and inspiration. More than just a world-class festival, AVIJOZI proved to be the place where ideas, innovation, and imagination converged to shape Africa’s creative and technological future.

This year’s theme, “Heart of Steel,” captured the spirit of the event perfectly — a celebration of the magic that happens when artistry meets machinery, and when soul meets software. It was about more than tools and tech; it was about the human heartbeat driving Africa’s creative industries forward.

With over 20 speakers gracing the stage — including Nosipho van den Bragt (Founder of AVIJOZI), Bonko Khoza, and Zikhona Sodlaka — the event was packed with wisdom, storytelling, and insights. From animation to tech to the wider creative economy, panel discussions and talks gave aspiring creatives the guidance they needed while creating meaningful connections between industry veterans and fresh talent.
Attendees didn’t just sit back and listen — they got to interact directly with artists, developers, studios, and creators, making AVIJOZI not just a conference but a living, breathing hub of collaboration.
It doesn’t just end there, Space Salad hosted the Gaming Expo, giving festivalgoers a chance to unwind, play, and experience innovation in real time.

The expo brought together some of the most exciting studios, including:
– Disputed People Games
– Vetkoek Studios
– 4 Old Men
– Safe Dollar Studios
– Digitalkebulan
Each studio showcased their own brand of creativity, giving attendees a taste of the growing African gaming scene and its boundless potential.
AVIJOZI also marked the official launch of Season 2 of the Disputed People Games Podcast on Tour. The debut episode featured voices from Trace Urban, Space Salad, 4 Old Men, and Safe Dollar Studios, offering behind-the-scenes conversations with the very people shaping the continent’s creative industries.

No event of this scale comes together without powerful partnerships. A huge shout-out goes to Sunday World, Trace TV, Gauteng Province Economy Development, Games For Change, Animation SA, Two Name Games and many more for helping make AVIJOZI 2025 the massive success it was.
At its core, AVIJOZI 2025 reminded us that Africa’s creative and tech future is alive, thriving, and unstoppable — beating with both steel and soul. It was a true testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and vision.
